What we do?
Istanbul Arts and Cultural Exchange Office is founded in 2020 into Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality's Kültür AŞ and aims to support artists and art professionals of the city to raise their international visibility, to develop new international projects and businesses.
In the same vision of being a natural partner of Istanbul's internationally acclaimed art scene, as well as new and young talents who seek to connect with art networks, Istanbul Arts and Cultural Exchange Office will soon publish open calls for international projects, and tour supports.
What is the Culture Office ?
Istanbul Arts and Cultural Exchange Office aims to support young and dynamic art scenes of the city by:
- Supporting international projects developments;
- Providing know-how, promotion and financial support for new/young artists who have potential/demand on abroad, as well as internationally acclaimed artists from Istanbul;
- Organizing educational panels, meetings and workshops for artists and art professionals to develop their professional skills, exchange know-how;
- Encouraging artists and art professionals to meet, network and collaborate with their international counter parties;
- Attending international art fairs and conventions to develop new networks and relations with other foreign cultural institutions.
Why is it founded in Kültür AŞ ?
The cultural productivity being a powerful tool for international affairs, can be progressively developed only by the collaboration of Public Institutions' support with the private industry know-how.
Various examples of Cultural Export Offices in the world are operated by, either independent public institutions, professional societies or NGO's of the related fields.
One of the articles that defines Kültür AŞ's fundamental vision is: "to promote Istanbul's cultural, geographical and artistic beauties at home and abroad" and it is already one of the most efficient institutions in the city, that is able to cooperate Public and Private sectors in perfect harmony.
What we aim to do ?
Istanbul Arts and Cultural Exchange Office is founded as a funding and service platform working on all traditional or contemporary art forms and for their creators.
It defines the priorities and goals as:
- to increase the international visibility of Istanbul and its artists
- to build new connections between artists and art professionals and encourage them for new collaborations.
- to vary and multiply the type of international events in Istanbul and maximize their public reach
- to organize panels, meetings and workshops with senior art professionals to share the know-how with younger generations.
