Anatolia is a land of heartfelt musical expression, and Coşkun Karademir was captivated by its iconic folk lute, the bağlama, while still a small child. Today, he fills his art with all the mystical sounds of his beloved homeland.
Learning from countless Anatolian masters, Karademir then devoted himself to folk and mystical music, releasing unforgettable albums in both genres. Discovering the mystic the sounds of a host of different lands, he arranged meetings between world-famous artists, and out of these meetings grew many concerts, collaborations and album projects. And with these projects, he contributed greatly in gaining an ear for the voice of truth rising in Anatolia. Karademir served for a time as a state artist, engaged in academic studies and teaching at various universites. With the international awards he received, he successfully represented his country, reintroducing Anatolia to the world. When his group The Secret Ensemble, which included renowned Iranian vocalist Mahsa Vahdat, released its first album Kuşların Çağrısı (The Call of Birds), he emerged onto the world stage to great public interest. His album Endless Path, produced by Erik Hillestad and released to the world music market under the KKV label, was acclaimed by the press and musical authorities as a “masterpiece of mystical music.” With a variety of solo, duo, quartet and ensemble projects, Coşkun Karademir continues to present local musical textures to world music audiences. He joins with extraordinarily successful artists in their fields from Turkey and around the world to produce original projects, and creates instrumental works, albums and concert projects as well music for films and television series.Blending his own work with that of great sufis, âşıks and minstrels who have left an indelible mark on hearts throughout history, he lovingly crafts his own original art.
